The Artists in Residence Program
The Artists-In-Residence Program (AIR) is one of the newest programs of The Corinth Area Arts Council. This program, the first of its kind, has the sole intent of connecting studying artists with mentors in their field. Fields of study range from vocal and instrumental lessons to oil painting and pottery. Whether you are 3 or 93, studying arts is a very important part of life development. This program connects students to a private instructor that assesses their current abilities and creates a personalized plan for growth.
Students are provided these services on a sliding scale, to ensure that there are no barriers to access. Upon application to the program, students meet with the director of the program and complete a series of exercises and assessments to provide a detailed profile. Program administrators determine the best match for the student, further ensuring success.
Instructors are screened through a rigorous process to ensure that every student receives a quality education in a safe and welcoming environment. All instructors undergo a background check and multiple interviews. All staff interacting with students at The Corinth Area Arts Council undergo safe-child and basic educational psychology training. Instructors are regularly reviewed and continuing education is required.
Regular check-up meetings are scheduled between the student and program administrators to adjust curriculum and plans as necessary. The ultimate goal of this program is to create artists for the next generation. Students get the opportunity to perform on-stage in recitals, exhibit works in showings, and engage in regular outreach opportunities throughout the year.
